FoV’s first tree plantation drive of the season was organized at Shri Radha Bawri in collaboration with the Bhaktivedanta Swami Gurukula and International School under the Eco-School Programme of the organization. Students of the Sixth Standard of the BGIS participated in the tree plantation drive in presence of their Vice Principal Shri Radha Kant Das and Shri Chandrashekhar Das. Most of the Kadamba Trees were planted during the drive and it was jointly conceptualized that the plantation site will be developed as a ‘Kadamba Khandi’. Altogether two thousand trees will be planted in this season by this collaboration.
After the tree plantation the students were addressed by Baba Shri Madan Bihari Das of Tatiasthan and Acharya Naresh Narain, Chief Editor of the monthly magazine ‘Shri Anant Sandesh’. During their address they explained on how strong the environment causes is linked with Krishna Leela and Shri Dham Vrindavan. The children were told that the soil of Vraja was so pure that Krishna used to eat it in His childhood. They were given the example on how Krishna was so conscious of environment conversation. They exhorted that it is the dire need of the hour to do every action which is related to protect the environment. The basic principle of the environment protection should be implemented in the daily life.
The students were very keen to support the efforts of Friends of Vrindavan, and asked different questions to FoV Director Jagannath Poddar on how they can serve Vraja’s ecology. Shri Radha Kanta Das and Jagannath Poddar jointly agreed to organize the Eco-School activities in the BGIS on every week ends.
The students were shown the step-water well at Shri Radha Bawri and were explained how the rain water harvesting was practiced in the olden times. Then the students visited FoV’s recycling programme where they tried their hands by recycling paper.
